Opposition to Development of Captain Sam's Spit

On Tuesday, April 18th there will be a public hearing from 6 to 8 PM at the Kiawah Town Hall regarding the proposed development on Captain Sam’s Spit. This action is strongly opposed by environmental groups due to the expected damage to the habitat of many species of birds as well as dolphins, diamondback turtles and our loggerhead turtles.

The leadership of the Seabrook Island Turtle Patrol is opposed to this development and will be attending the meeting. We encourage all Turtle Patrol Members and other interested parties to join us in supporting the loggerheads and other wildlife that would be negatively impacted.
