Nests #25 & 26

Valerie and Mark Doane  and Susie Firesheets were busy with 3 crawls. The crawls at boardwalks #4 and #6 were false but the crawl at boardwalk #3 was the real thing. Nest # 25 was found by Jen Gibson and moved to near boardwalk #5.

Zone 2 had Karen Sewell walking alone but she spied a crawl in front of the Beach Club Villas. Sandy MacCoss found nest # 26 with 105 eggs. They moved it around the corner on North Beach.

On Zone 1 Bob McBride called with the sad news that we may have lost part of nest #24. The screen was hanging over the ledge. Sandy MacCoss and Karen Sewell moved 107 eggs from nest #24  to a new nest on zone 1 at the blue flags set out for nests by Terry, Gary Fanster and Bill Nelson last week. There were also 2 broken eggs in the original nest. Doesn't look like we lost that nest after all.

Nests 23 &24

Zone 2 walkers Veronica L'Allier and Kathy Murray had a promising crawl in front of the yellow house.   Linda and Bill (back on the beach) Nelson responded but unfortunately, it was a false crawl.  There was another crawl in front of the Beach Club Villas.  Jennifer Gibson responded to this crawl and found Nest #23.  112 eggs were moved further back on the dune with the assistance of Kathy Murray.

Meanwhile, in Zone 1, Nancy Shenton with Kathy and Ron Chamberlain called with a crawl.  Bill Middleton found nest #24 about 100 yards past the old pier and determined it could be left in situ.  There was another crawl nearby which was determined to be a false crawl.

Nests 21 & 22

Zone 2 walkers Anne Hess, Pat Backstrom, Pat's granddaughter Ava Nelson, Judy Morr, and visitors Brad Halleron and son Peter found a crawl immediately in front of the 3 relocated nests south of the yellow house. Judy Morr probed and found Nest #21.  Bill Greubel brought the equipment. The 104 eggs were moved back about 10 feet to higher ground with the primary effort being done by Peter and Ava.

Zone 4 walkers Sandy MacCoss and Dean Morr found a crawl totally above the high tide line all the way around the bend at the inlet. Great find by Sandy and Dean as the crawl started in the weeds! Bill Greubel responded and found Nest #22.  The nest had 96 eggs and was relocated near the second dog sign.

Another great day for turtles and turtlers!
